Ed Day - President and CEO
Ed Day became Mississippi Power's eleventh President and Chief Executive Officer on August 13, 2010. Previously, Day was executive vice president, Engineering and Construction, Southern Company Generation, a business unit within the investor owned electric utility Southern Company. The Engineering and Construction organization manages capital and O&M projects.
Day rose through the ranks of Southern Company over the past 27 plus years in areas such as nuclear, wholesale power marketing, engineering, procurement and construction. His experience spans practical field assignments, project supervision and management, wholesale power contract negotiations, customer relationship development, public service commission and regulatory testimony, and senior executive leadership.
Day holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master of Business Administration from Samford University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced Management Program.
Day serves on the board of directors of the Gulf Coast Business Council, Gulf Coast Renaissance Corporation and the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. He also serves on the boards of the Mississippi Economic Council, Mississippi Energy Policy Institute and the Mississippi Partnership for Economic Development. Day is a member of the United Way de Tocqueville Society and the Mississippi Main Street Association Leadership Council.
