Robyn Killebrew
Now can anybody tell me what to do with that negative three? Add it. What are we adding it to? The negative six.
Toni Cook -
Robyn Killebrew is an awesome teacher. She truly believes that every student can learn, and when they get to her classroom, she makes sure that happens.
Rick Dedeaux -
I really like math, but it was like something that I have trouble with, and she was always there for me after school and before school, and she was like, looking over me to make sure I understood it.
Julian Laatsch -
I think she really understands what we need, and she makes it about the students, not so much about her lesson plan strict, and she is always constantly adapting to what she's finding out about us.
Lee Wynn -
She comes with like, examples, like, she'll say like, if a certain student plays a certain sport she can relate the sport to the, or like if the student has a hobby, she'll relate the hobby to the problem.
Denise Costello -
I'm so impressed that she can take something like quadratic equations, solving a quadratic equation, and make her students feel like, number one, this is the most exciting thing they're going to do today, and number two, it's easy. She just has a way of presenting material, taking the scariness out of it, making them believe that they can do it, do it well, and she leads them right along. She's great.
Cathy Broadway -
She uses a lot of educational games. The flyswatter game relay race where the kids are racing against each other to get the correct answer.
Rick Dedeaux -
Get in two lines, go to the board, and she'll put a question up there and then two people race to the board and write it down. First person to get it, they get points. And then every team, so whatever team wins, they get points on the test or the quiz.
Lee Wynn -
It's like, competitive, almost. Like, you get into class, and you're working hard to do better than everybody else, and trying to be the best that you can be.
Julian Laatsch -
Just kind of the way of thinking that I developed from being in her class has helped me in all of my math classes. This year I've had three math classes, this year, and I'm so much better in them compared to my three previous years in high school because of what she taught us in there. Just the thought process.
Denise Costello -
Students have often told me, "Coach taught me that. Coach showed me how to do that. Coach did it this way. Can I do this? Coach showed me this." And they remember, and they're learning.
Rick Dedeaux -
She's very active on the softball field, too, cheering on her team. Even if they do something bad, she's there tapping them on the shoulder saying good job.
Cathy Broadway -
Robyn came to me her first year that she was here, and she sat down and she said, "Ms. Broadway, I have an idea I want to run past you" and I said, "Okay what is it?" She said, "I'd like to do a benefit softball game." I believe that year is was to aid pink hearts for cancer. And she said, "Because I want my team to know the value of giving back."
Toni Cook -
Last year, she had her charity game and raised over seven thousand dollars for the Make A Wish Foundation for a special child. So not only does she effect our students in the classroom, but she effects every student that comes to Pass High.
Julian Laatsch -
At the beginning of Junior Year, I had Ms. Killebrew for the math prep class, PSAT, and when we took it, took the PSAT junior year, math was now my highest section by a large margin, because the previous year I had been in like the sixty-somethings. So, she really kind of made the test for me for that one. I think I ended up in like the ninety-ninth percentile in the nation for math thanks to Ms. Killebrew.
Lee Wynn -
Well, I had like, math before, but she made it easier for me, I guess. Like, she made it easier to understand. She's a great teacher. She's always encouraging. She pushed me harder than I had been before. She just makes it fun.
Denise Costello -
I would love for my child to be in Robyn's class. I know that Robyn cares about the kids, and that she's going to make sure they're learning, and they're going to have fun along the way. They're going to want to do it.
Toni Cook -
She's loving, she's caring, she is enthusiastic and passionate about her subject, and that carries through in the classroom. She wants every child to be successful, and she does everything within her power to make that happen.
Cathy Broadway -
Robyn, I just want to tell you congratulations on this prestigious honor. There is no one I can think of more deserving, and I am very fortunate to have you at Pass Christian High School, our students are very fortunate, and our entire community is so lucky that we have leaders such as you. Thank you.
Lee Wynn -
Thanks Coach for being such a great math teacher.
Toni Cook -
Robyn, I've had the privilege of calling you colleague and friend for the last three years. You are an awesome teacher, and we are so lucky to have you as a part of our Pass High family.
Julian Laatsch -
Ms. Killebrew, congratulations on your award. I couldn't be more grateful for what you taught us in that class, and I know I'll be using it all throughout all my college math courses, and where I end up will probably be because of how I did on the PSAT, thanks to your help on the math section. Thank you.
Denise Costello -
Robyn, I am thrilled that you've gotten this award. You deserve it. I am excited that I have gotten to know you, that we get to teach together in the math department. Keep up the great work. You are awesome.
Rick Dedeaux -
Congratulations Coach Killebrew on winning this award. You are a great teacher. I'm going to miss you when I go to USM, but I'm going to always come back to visit you.
