Summer Energy Saving Tips for Your Business

Using electricity inefficiently can mean paying higher electric bills than necessary. Here are a few energy saving tips that can help beat the heat and get the most value for your energy dollar.
- Set your air conditioner or heat pump’s thermostat at the highest comfortable setting. For most people, a setting of 78 degrees will be comfortable. Some people desire a cooler temperature, but each degree set lower will increase the amount of electricity purchased.
- Change your air filters at least once a month. When filters are dirty, air conditioners have to work harder and use more energy to keep your business comfortable.
- Have your air conditioner cleaned and checked by a heating and cooling dealer at the first of the summer season to ensure it is operating at maximum efficiency.
- Make sure your indoor air return grilles are not blocked.
At Mississippi Power, we are doing everything we can to help you make informed decisions about electricity use.
