Commercial Incentives
You may qualify for EarthCents Commercial Incentives when you make your business more energy efficient by installing high efficiency electric HVAC equipment, water heaters and electric cooking equipment.

Solar for Your Business
Solar heating, also called solar thermal, harnesses the sun's energy which can be used to produce hot water for commercial and industrial applications including space heating, process heating and pool heating. Most solar thermal applications are relatively low temperature, from 80°F for pool heating to 160°F for water heating. However, concentrating solar thermal can be used for higher temperature applications. Businesses with high hot-water demands, such as the following, may be good candidates for solar thermal heating.

Efficient HVAC Selection, Design and Refurbishing
Attention is given to heat-gain and heat-loss of the entire building envelope along with sensible and latent heat concerns. Proper air distribution and ventilation are seen as a critical part of the design.

Electro-Technology Based End-Use Applications
Mississippi Power offers expertise on applications such as the following:

 Radio frequency drying

 Infrared process heating

 Powder coating

 Induction heating

Lighting Retrofit and Maintenance Service
Major advancements in fluorescent lighting have made it possible to cover the cost of retrofitting inefficient incandescent lighting with the savings incurred by the installation of more efficient lighting. The Lighting Retrofit and Maintenance Service program helps customers determine the best plan and the best vendor for the retrofit.

Mechanical and Electrical Analysis
Analysis of mechanical systems including HVAC, chiller-boiler systems, steam process driven equipment and cogeneration applications comprise a portion of the mechanical analysis services provided to customers.

Interruptible
Interruptible contracts allow Mississippi Power to call upon larger customers to interrupt a portion of their own load during times of heavy demand on Mississippi Power's electrical system. We provide a billing credit to participating customers to compensate for the load reduction provided and would assess penalties if noncompliant.

Standby Generation
Special contracts allow Mississippi Power to call upon customer-owned emergency generation to operate during times of heavy demand on the company's electrical system. We provide a billing credit to participating customers to compensate for the capacity provided and would assess penalties if noncompliant.

Time-of-use (TOU) Rate
This rate is time-differentiated so that customers are assessed higher prices for operating during peak hours and lower prices for operating during off-peak hours. These rates provide price signals to the customer to reduce demand during Mississippi Power's peak load hours. The company's time-of-use rates currently include the following:

Large General Service TOU rate schedule (LGS-TOU)

Large Power Option TOU rate schedule (LPO-TOU)

Customized TOU contracts approved by the Mississippi Public Service Commission
