Mississippi Power offers many products and services to assist residential customers in becoming more energy efficient. Whether you are building a new home or making improvements to your current home, we can help. Mississippi Power has been able to further increase customer offerings by partnering with ENERGY STARŪ and the United States Green Building Council.
Programs Currently Available
EarthCents Home - This pilot program is an enhancement to the GoodCents New Home Program and provides incentives to homebuilders and/or homeowners for energy-efficient construction in the new-home market. Learn more.
EarthCents Energy Audits - Marketing representatives can survey your home and recommend affordable ways for you to save energy and money through energy efficiency home improvements. Online Energy Checkups - In as little as five minutes, you can learn how to save money on energy at home. Take the Online Energy Checkup.
EarthCents HVAC Dealer Program - Mississippi Power's dealer program offers training opportunities for EarthCents heating and cooling dealers and promotes the installation of high efficiency heat pumps. To locate a HVAC dealer click here.
EarthCents Builder Program - Mississippi Power partners with local builders and contractors to help promote the efficient construction of new homes. Learn more.
Weatherization - Through partnerships, Mississippi Power is able to bring energy efficiency initiatives into the very living rooms of our customers in need. Initiatives include weather-stripping, window caulking, compact fluorescent light bulbs and water heater blankets. Customers interested in this program should contact their local community action agency.
School Program - This program uses an array of resources to educate elementary students, parents and teachers on the benefits of home energy efficiency. Learn more.
Energy and Environmental Pledge - Take the ENERGY STAR Energy and Environmental Pledge by agreeing to make some quick and easy energy efficiency improvements to your home.
Programs of the Future
Switch Program - PILOT PROGRAM. Without sacrificing the comfort of your home, this program allows Mississippi Power to safely and briefly lower the amount of electricity your central air conditioner uses, reducing the need for higher priced electricity when the need for power reaches high levels.
Critical Peak Pricing with Residential Time-of-Use (TOU) Rate - IN THE FUTURE. Mississippi Power is formulating a new program that will allow you to use a programmable thermostat in conjunction with the advanced metering infrastructure network and TOU rate - Critical Peak Pricing - to adjust your thermostat when a critical peak pricing period is about to commence.
Research Projects - To test the efficiency and feasibility of new technologies, Mississippi Power conducts research by setting up applications in actual homes, just like yours. When products prove to be efficient and reliable, we bring them to you. Mississippi Power is currently researching two residential technologies.
