Registering to do work with Mississippi Power and actually qualifying to bid on specific projects are not the same. You MUST be registered as indicated above to be considered for work. Qualification to bid on particular work is based on job specifications and the contractor's ability to meet these expectations. Those considered qualified by the business units and engineers of Mississippi Power will be selected for the bid opportunity.

Mississippi Power does not have "set asides" or give preference to diverse or locally owned businesses, however we recognize the importance of supporting diverse businesses and local economies in the areas we serve and strive to build lasting relationships with these businesses. Diverse and local businesses will be evaluated and considered with the same criteria as all other suppliers. Mississippi Power will award based on the best evaluated bid to ensure that our customer's needs are met in the most economical manner.

In addition to the normal annual maintenance work scheduled at Mississippi Power, the construction of the Kemper County energy facility will require a broad spectrum of goods and services ranging from design engineering, complex engineered equipment, advanced electrical and instrumentation work, detailed fabrication, site work and general construction services.

Here is a timeline to when Kemper County energy facility will come online. The construction phase of the project began in June 2010. Bidder qualification and packages for construction started going out in the 2nd quarter of 2010 and continue through mid-2012.
