Emergencies and challenging economic times often make it difficult for people to acquire food, shelter, clothing, and medical supplies or even pay their utility bills. But programs like Project SHARE provide a way for you to help those truly in need.
Mississippi Power's Project SHARE is a program to assist the elderly, handicapped, medically disabled and others in need who are having difficulty paying their electric service bill.
The United Way of South Mississippi is contracted to administer the program through Catholic Charities.
For as little as a dollar a month, you can help a neighbor in need. Once you enroll, your designated contribution will be added to your electric bill and remain there until you notify us you want to discontinue the program.
Since its inception in 2002, Project SHARE has collected more than $900,000 through the donations customers and employees make when they pay their electric bill. All of your donated dollars go to work in your communities.
Any Mississippi Power customer with a demonstrated financial need may be eligible to apply for Project SHARE by simply calling toll-free number, 1-855-847-0555 to speak with a representative from Catholic Charities. The customer will be directed to a representative, who will set an appointment for the customer to provide documentation to determine the level of need. If eligible, a customer may receive up to $300 annually in assistance.
