Low Income Programs and Assistance
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP is a federally-funded program that helps low-income households with their energy bills. If your income and other requirements qualify for the program, you may be assisted with one or more of the following types of services:
- Bill payment assistance
The LIHEAP program in your community decides if your household's income qualifies. Households may also be required to meet additional eligibility criteria to receive LIHEAP assistance. Note: Availability of LIHEAP assistance is not guaranteed.
For those who qualify, assistance is available to help with payment of your energy bill. To find out if you qualify, complete the online pre-application found at virtualroma.mdhs.ms.gov. Once the pre-application is submitted, information on services you may qualify for will appear on the screen.

Local community action agencies
While you must apply for LIHEAP funds online, your local community action agency can provide answers to questions about LIHEAP, as well as other information on a number of resources and programs that offer low income, handicapped and elderly customers help with energy bills. Temporary Aid to Needy Families
Mississippi Power offers each eligible SSI/TANF recipient a discount on his or her monthly electric bills. Please call 800-532-1502 or visit your local office to receive a form for eligibility. This form must be certified by either the Social Security Administration or the Mississippi Department of Human Services to qualify for the discount.
This program is a payment plan available to our customers whose main source of income is social Security or a single monthly check. Please call us at 800-532-1502 to see if you qualify.

With Budget Billing, you pay approximately the same amount each month, based on an average of your previous 12 months' electrical usage. Sign up online for Budget Billing.
