Pearl River Community College honors Mississippi Power for Outstanding Partnership

Pearl River Community College recognized Mississippi Power for its “Outstanding Partnership” at the school’s annual banquet last Thursday night in Hattiesburg.

The company’s Heritage Scholarships, educational training pathways including Utility Lineman, Automotive and Instrumentation & Controls Technology, and internship opportunities were all recognized as ways students can benefit from a relationship with the company.

“Partnerships that improve southeast Mississippi, like the one we have with Pearl River Community College, are how Mississippi Power works every day to make southeast Mississippi an incredible place to call home,” said Community Development & Corporate Giving Manager Steven Dick. “The company strives to be a great corporate citizen through economic development, community readiness and workforce development.”

It was also noted that Chase Lewis, a Bay St. Louis High graduate and Heritage Scholarship recipient who interned with the company, began his career as an apprentice electrician after earning a degree in electrical technology from PRCC.

“That’s exactly what we envisioned for the Heritage Scholarship recipients when we began awarding them,” said Community Affairs Representative Ann Holland. “We’ve got a wonderful relationship with PRCC and are looking forward to future collaborations with them.”
