Mississippi Power team traveling to New Jersey for storm restoration

Gulfport, Miss. - A Mississippi Power storm team is currently traveling to New Jersey after responding to a request for mutual assistance through the Southeastern Electric Exchange (SEE). Over the past few days, severe weather has impacted several states in the northeastern United States with additional severe weather expected in the coming days.

A team of approximately 150 Mississippi Power line crews, support personnel and contracted resources departed Sunday afternoon and are focused on traveling safely before joining the restoration efforts in New Jersey.

“Our team is storm-tested, and that means we are used to answering the call when others need us,” said Mississippi Power Storm Director Brad Falls. “We’ve assisted several restoration efforts in the northeast before, so we’re prepared to help those customers. The first step is traveling safely, and then we’ll focus on getting the power back on for those communities.”
