Mississippi Power was one of several companies recognized for its supplier diversity efforts by the state’s legislative black caucus at the Foundation for Education and Economic Development banquet Thursday.
Sen. Sampson Jackson said at the banquet that construction of the Kemper County energy facility has contributed directly to economic development and job growth for minorities.
Through December 2013, 22 African American owned companies have accounted for nearly $100 million in contracted or committed spend on the Kemper project.
