Recognizing their contributions in the classroom, Mississippi Power honored six teachers with the prestigious Alan R. Barton Excellence in Teaching Award. Recipient Jeremy Bell, algebra I and geometry teacher at St. Martin High School, sent the following email in appreciation of the company’s recognition efforts.
Hello Becky,
Thank you very much for the awesome presentation at the Hancock Building last Friday. I was amazed and filled with joy. I plan on completing my website this summer and I would like to somehow provide a link to MS Power and provide “Special Thank You” to MS Power for its contributions to our community and state. I will contact you before I actually publish the page to make sure it is approved by you or your personnel.
You guys have inspired me to pay it forward. I am creating a section of the website dedicated to teachers at my school that are noticed for doing a great job. I plan to make a short video or photo collage, with a student comment, for 1 teacher a month, until I have completed one for each teacher at my school. If I do videos, they will be no match for the ones you all made, but I believe they will inspire other teachers. With each video or photo collage, a special thanks will be provided to MS Power for inspiring me and their service to the community. I will never forget the feeling of appreciation and gratitude that your personnel provided. I will inform you when I finish the site so I can get your feedback.
I wanted to make sure that you received my spending proposal for the “school” portion of the award money. I will be preparing a new room for the fall, and would love to order those items to begin the process. If you need something else from me, or my principal, please let me know. I have big plans and would love to eventually develop a relationship with MS Power and our students. Perhaps, to come speak for my classes, or a partnership for community service. The sky is the limit.
Thanks again, for everything!
Jeremy Bell
