Mississippi Power is making available up to 16,000 energy efficient light bulbs to residential customers as part of the company’s enhanced energy efficiency efforts. On Monday, a weeklong effort to distribute compact florescent light bulbs began in Newton and Union and will continue through Friday at six other bill payment offices throughout the Mississippi Power service territory. The first 200 customers at each office will be eligible to receive the free light bulbs.
The residential lighting program is part of a new portfolio of energy efficiency programs designed to help customers save energy and lower their power bills. The programs include home energy audits, classroom kits to encourage energy efficiency education, and incentives to upgrade home and business lighting. The new programs are in addition to energy savings programs already available to Mississippi Power customers.
