Mark Loughman elected president of Mississippi Main Street Assoc. board

Mississippi Power Director of Environmental Affairs Mark Loughman will serve as president of the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) Board of Directors for the 2014-2015 term.

Since joining the board in 2011, Loughman has served as treasurer and vice president on the executive committee.

“Revitalization of our historic Main Street districts is the foundation of the state’s economic development efforts,” Loughman said. “I’m honored to continue the mission of helping our Main Street communities prosper.”

Prior to his current role as Director of Environmental Affairs at Mississippi Power, Loughman served as the Pascagoula area manager, major accounts manager and the Director of Economic Development.

A native of Hattiesburg, Loughman is a graduate of several leadership programs including Leadership Mississippi, Leadership Gulf Coast, Leadership Jackson County, and the Gulf Coast Business Council’s Master’s Program.

“Since getting started in the early 1990s, MMSA has successfully reinvested more than $4 billion in public and private investments and assisted with the creation of more than 4,000 new businesses,” Loughman said. “Downtown areas that were once deteriorating are making a comeback, and I am excited to be a part of this organization.”
