New Picayune Customer Service Center opens

Less than six months after the groundbreaking ceremony, Mississippi Power’s Customer Service Center in Picayune opened Monday morning in the town’s historic district.

The 1,900-square-foot building on Canal Street now houses a new truck barn, storage area, laydown yard and all customer service needs in one location.

“With a drive-thru window and a big parking lot, this new building is more convenient for our Picayune and Carriere customers,” Benny Prestridge, district manager, said. “Moving into the historic district of Picayune is exciting and city leaders and other community partners worked closely with us to make it happen.”

The doors opened at 8 a.m. Monday morning with Customer Service Representatives Emily Ladner and Lacie Gomillion on hand to greet customers.

Along with the Mississippi Power sign outside of the building, the location is also sporting a new street sign.

“The city wants to create a uniform look downtown, so they recently installed the new street sign,” Prestridge said. “Just a few weeks ago we also installed ten new decorative light poles on Canal Street, East Second Street and Curran Avenue. The new signs and light poles really add something to the downtown area.”
