Safety milestones celebrated at Plant Daniel

When Plant Daniel employees gathered for their quarterly information meeting on Sept. 23, they were interested in more than an update on operations. They were looking to celebrate a pair of safety milestones.

On Aug. 13, Daniel employees passed the 14-year mark without a lost time accident and Sept. 4 was their 500th straight day without a recordable accident.

“These are tremendous accomplishments, especially when considering they were achieved during a particularly busy operational period in Plant Daniel’s history,” Plant Manager Valerie Wade said. “These two milestones demonstrate how committed to Target Zero our team members are.”

Allen Reaves, vice president of Generation and senior production officer, said the accomplishments are particularly notable given the large scale scrubber construction project currently taking place as well as a maintenance outage earlier this year.

“When you take into account the size of Plant Daniel and the number of workers on site, both at the plant and building the scrubber, these are incredible achievements,” Reaves said. “Every employee should be proud of the safe work being done at Plant Daniel.”
