Mississippi Power continues to make progress in the Columbia restoration efforts following Tuesday’s severe weather outbreak.
As of 4 p.m. Dec. 24, approximately 175 customers are still without service. At approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, service was restored to more than 3,300 customers after repairs were made to the main substation that serves Columbia.
Mississippi Power storm team management estimates that service will be restored to all customers who can take it Wednesday night.
“Our storm-tested crews are making great progress, but this afternoon we found a few more broken utility poles that needed to be replaced,” Distribution Director Randall Pinkston said. “We continue to work our storm plan and modify it so we’re using our resources in the best way possible.”
If customers are not able to receive power at their home or business on Wednesday, they will need to call Mississippi Power’s 24/7 Customer Service Line at 1-800-532-1502 to schedule a re-connection.
Distribution crews will be on call Christmas Day to turn on service to customers that are ready to receive it.
