The National Weather Center is predicting the possibility of record high temperatures this weekend across the Mississippi Power service territory.
Mississippi Power linemen, electric servicemen and other employees are prepared to take extra precautions while working outdoors during days with extreme heat.
“We carry coolers with water and drinks iced down to stay hydrated, and drink some Gatorade to replace electrolytes,” Distribution Operation Manager Scott Cashwell said. “We’ve also rescheduled some of our larger construction crews to start earlier in the morning so they can get the majority of their work done before the afternoon heat sets in.”
The NWC office in Jackson is forecasting high temperatures of 98-105 degrees through Monday across parts of Mississippi with the heat index approaching 115 degrees in some areas.
