Real Estate department reaches 25-year safety milestone

Mississippi Power’s Real Estate department recently reached a major safety milestone, achieving 25 years without a preventable vehicle accident and without an OSHA recordable injury.

“Our team has reached this outstanding milestone by exhibiting faithful discipline to the behaviors identified within Smith System’s 5 Keys of Safe Driving,” said Real Estate Manager Josh Harrison.

Harrison estimated the department drives approximately 7,500 miles annually, meaning a total of about 187,500 miles has been travelled safely over the 25-year streak.

“This safety milestone is further proof of our commitment to safe behaviors,” said Johnny Atherton, Vice president Corporate Services and Community Relations. “I am proud of this team and encourage them to maintain their focus. It doesn’t matter if you’re driving, working outside, working in an office or if you’re on your own time. Safety should never take a holiday.”

According to the files maintained in Safety and Training, the Real Estate department currently holds the longest safety record for Mississippi Power.
