Restoring electricity to a business is never simple, especially when a giant sinkhole is the cause for the outage.
After nearly a month’s worth of activity, Meridian-area crews have fully restored power to the town’s IHOP restaurant.
The restaurant has been closed ever since a sinkhole formed near its parking lot in early November and swallowed the building’s transformer, which was excavated by company crews a few days after the hole developed.
“As far as re-establishing service, we relocated the pad-mounted transformer site to the north side of the building away from the ditch,” said Meridian Distribution Engineer Kyle Ladner. “In order to do that, a 400-foot bore was installed. Both line crews worked diligently in order to meet the customer’s committed service date of December 4.”
With everything in place and electric service restored to the restaurant, IHOP officials hope to have the restaurant ready re-open before Christmas.
