Mississippi Power storm crews back on the road this week

So far in 2016, Mississippi Power’s storm crews have defined what being Storm Ready means.

After assisting Gulf Power with storm restoration last week, a Mississippi Power storm crew made up of 22 linemen and support personnel is aiding Gulf Power after powerful storms caused damage just north of Pensacola.

Last week a company crew of 40 also assisted Gulf in the wake of tornadoes. Including this week’s trip, storm crews have made four trips to assist in restoration efforts all over the Southeast.

On Tuesday, another intense storm system raked across the South and caused damage in four states, with areas in Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle suffering extensive damage.

At one point late Tuesday evening, Gulf reported 8,900 outages. That number was down to 3,770 early Wednesday morning.

The crew of 17 linemen and five support members left Wednesday morning.
