Project Specialist Chris McMaster has been with Mississippi Power for 17 years.
McMaster works in Contracts, assisting with the contracting process and reporting requirements such as supplier diversity and Kemper records inventory.
“I love the atmosphere here that’s created by everyone in the department,” she said. “They’re just real, down-to-earth people with great senses of humor. They’re people who work hard and laugh a lot, people who are open and honest, and respect and care about one another. It’s a great place to work.”
McMaster has so many hobbies she isn’t sure how she finds time to work.
Sewing for her grandchildren and teaching one of her granddaughters to quilt keep her busy. She also enjoys gardening, visiting and playing with her grandchildren, and doing home improvement projects with her husband David.
About seven years ago, they had attended an art class together and before the next class, she was involved in an auto accident when her car was rear-ended by another driver.
“I wasn’t able to go back to class, but since I already had the supplies, I started painting on my own and it just seemed to flow,” she said. “My dad could draw and paint; I think I inherited it from him.”
McMaster has donated some of her artwork to charity auctions and one of her colorful paintings even brightens the second-floor hallway at our General Office in Gulfport.
