Scott Jackson, a customer serviceman in the Hattiesburg area, has worked at Mississippi Power for eight years.
“I started out as a meter reader and was able to get on, so that was a blessing,” said Jackson. “I enjoy my work. I like interacting with the customers, but I wish someone would have warned me about the stress that comes with cutting someone’s lights off.”
Jackson comes from a big family and he is the youngest of 10 children.
“We were very blessed because everyone knew who the Jacksons were,” he said. “They never know my name but they always know I’m one of them Jackson boys. Being the youngest was a blast to me. You always had someone to play with you and also teach you what not to do. Just because you’re the youngest doesn’t always mean you can do no wrong.”
In addition to working for Mississippi Power, Jackson serves as the youth minister at Dixie United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
“The story my family always tells about me was when I said thong instead of tongs one time while I was preaching,” Jackson said.
He helps organize an annual outdoor concert at the church called Back to the Cross.
When Jackson isn’t working or preaching, he enjoys playing baseball and golf.
He is married to Cassie Jackson and they have 5-year-old twins— Miles and Adriane.
