Severe weather expected across Mississippi Power service territory

With severe weather possibly impacting the area Tuesday, Feb. 23, Mississippi Power encourages residents to be storm ready.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center website, there is an enhanced risk of severe weather throughout the entire Mississippi Power service territory, with areas of Central and South Mississippi in the “moderate” risk category.

If power outages do occur, Mississippi Power crews will work to safely and quickly restore service.

Customers are reminded to avoid downed power lines because the lines could still be energized. Those who experience a power outage can use Mississippi Power’s online Outage Map anytime to report an outage and track utility crews as they work to safely restore power.

Simply download the Outage Map app using a smart phone or tablet. The same tools are available on the Mississippi Power website at https://www.mississippipower.com/in-our-community/storm-and-outage-center/

Customers can also report power outages by calling the dedicated outage line at 1-800-ITS DARK. For all other inquiries, call the customer service line at 1-800-532-1502.
