Several rounds of heavy thunderstorms caused numerous sporadic and prolonged outages Monday night, keeping Mississippi Power crews busy.
The rough weather affected the Meridian area first, then moved southward through areas of the Pine Belt then toward the Coast. Combined with a non-weather related event, there was a peak outage of more than 3,700 customers in the early-morning hours of Tuesday.
“Most of the outages came from downed trees and lightning strikes,” said Charlie Sentell, Customer Operations Manager. “Crews from all divisions pulled together in the restoration process.”
Service to all customers was safely restored Tuesday by mid-morning.
