Company adding more APLs, bar code option

Mississippi Power is adding Family Dollar and Dollar General to its growing list of Authorized Payment Locations, providing more bill payment options for customers.

The Family Dollar and Dollar General stores will require customers to provide a bar code to process their payment. The bar code can be downloaded to their smartphone and it will also be located on the bottom of their bill.

The company now has more than 1,300 APLs across the service territory, all of them convenient to where customers live, work and shop.

“The bar codes will only be needed at Family Dollar and Dollar Generals,” said Customer Care Center Manager Ronnie Page. “Customers can scan the bar codes on their bills or off their smartphone. It’s just another option for our customers.”

“At the other APLs, like Walmart and Western Union, they need to have their account number to pay their bill. These locations are open on weekends. Some are open until 10 p.m. and some are open around the clock, so it’s just about providing more channels and more convenience for our customers to do business with us.”

APL payments are secure and they are posted immediately to accounts. There is a $1.50 fee for each payment.

“APLs are helping us meet the ever-changing demands of our customers,” said Vice President of Customer Services Organization Nicole Faulk. “More and more, our customers are taking advantage of the convenience of not only our APL payment capabilities but also our Online Customer Care options.”
