High-speed EV chargers unveiled in Gulfport

A state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging station – featuring the first-ever certified cool-cable 350 kW chargers in the United States – was unveiled at Gulfport Premium Outlets Thursday afternoon.

A collaboration between Electrify America, Simon Properties and Mississippi Power, the six chargers can charge a vehicle at speeds up to 20 miles per minute – seven times faster than today’s most commonly used chargers.

“Today, there are nearly 850,000 electric vehicles on the road,” Marketing Team Leader Rose Ann Pegoda said. “With demand increasing for electric vehicles each year, Mississippi Power wants to be there for our customers in supporting this growth. We look forward to seeing this innovative fast charging location used for years to come.”
