Applications are now being accepted for Mississippi Power’s 2019 Heritage Scholarships. The program gives minority and female students throughout the company’s service area the opportunity to apply for career and technical education programs at an accredited community college following graduation.

Scholarships will fund tuition only for each semester per student at a maximum of $1,500 per semester. Qualifications for the scholarship program include:

  • Must be a graduating high school senior or a non-traditional student residing within the Mississippi Power 23-county service area or Kemper County
  • Must be accepted into one of the following careers and technical programs: Lineman, Instrumentation & Controls, Mechanical Maintenance, Auto Mechanics or Process Operations
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

“The Heritage Scholarship program is a part our company’s continued effort to build a diverse workforce in our state,” said Senior Community Development Representative Ann Holland. “Last year, we awarded eight scholarships to some outstanding students and we look forward to providing career opportunities to more students in our service area.”

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation will administer this year’s scholarship program. Applications are due February 28 and can be downloaded here.
