Gov. Phil Bryant tabbed Mississippi Power Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Moses Feagin as one of his three appointees to the advisory board that will help oversee spending of BP oil spill recovery money.
The 7-person board will review projects considered for BP settlement funds by the Mississippi Development Authority.
“I’m honored to serve on this board as one of Governor Bryant’s appointees,” Feagin said. “We have a tremendous opportunity to select the best projects that will have the largest impact on south Mississippi’s environmental and economic future.”
BP has agreed to pay the state nearly $750 million for economic damages caused by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
In 2018, legislators approved that 75 percent of that money should be spent along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
