Masonite marks 95 years in Laurel, honors Quarter Century Club

Mississippi Power Industrial Marketing Specialist Ron Robertson recently was invited to give remarks at the annual Quarter Century Club dinner at Masonite’s mill in Laurel. The evening honored active Masonite employees who have been with the company for 25 continuous years.

“Not only were some wonderful employees being honored,” Robertson said, “This year marks 95 years that Masonite has been a part of the Laurel community. It was truly an honor to be invited to participate in this special night.”

While managing the Masonite account is relatively new to Robertson, his family has strong ties to Laurel and the company.

“I’ve had relatives that retired from Masonite,” Robertson said. “I used to spend weekends in Laurel with my cousins hanging out at the Sunshine Skate Center, and we even evacuated from the coast to Laurel during Hurricane Elena.”

In his remarks, Robertson provided an overview of Mississippi Power’s approach to customer service and discussed the company’s PCL culture and the basic, timeless concepts outlined in the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”

“The 7 Habits have guided Mississippi Power employees, both professionally and personally, for nearly 30 years,” Robertson said in his remarks. “They’ve been instrumental in building the relationship that we have with Masonite.”

Robertson also touched on the importance of adaptation to both companies, especially when it comes to introducing new products and services.

“Innovation, adaptation and growth are words we hear a lot in the business world, and those are great words to describe how our two companies have worked together for decades,” Robertson said.

“For Masonite to invite Ron to participate in this event is a testament to Mississippi Power’s commitment to building strong partnerships with our customers,” Major Accounts Manager Stacey Miles said. “We’ve fostered a solid relationship with Masonite, and it’s a perfect example of putting the customer at the center of all that we do.”
