Tuesday morning update: Winter Storm Uri

  • Mississippi Power’s storm team of approximately 1,000 linemen, engineers and support personnel began working at first light Tuesday morning to continue restoring power to customers impacted by Winter Storm Uri.
  • The storm team includes Mississippi Power employees and additional resources from Georgia Power and Alabama Power.
  • Power has been fully restored to customers in Hattiesburg, Heidelberg and Forest.
  • The company anticipates service will be fully restored to customers who can receive it by 6 p.m. today in Bay Springs, Decatur, Hickory, Newton, Taylorsville and Union.
  • 95 percent of customers who can receive power in Meridian, Lake and Lawrence should have their power restored by midnight tonight.
  • The Meridian Bill Payment Office is closed on Tuesday. The Hattiesburg and Gulfport offices are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
