DeLisle Elementary uses Mississippi Power Environmental Education Grant for bee conservation
DeLisle Elementary teacher Connie Skrmetta and her fifth-grade students have used a Mississippi Power Environmental Education Grant to build and maintain a bee garden.
"Our kids are enjoying learning about the bees," Skrmetta said. "We are soon to plant our fall vegetables which will surely benefit. Thanks so much to Mississippi Power for your support!"
Skrmetta wanted to teach students the importance of pollinators in the ecosystem by increasing the bee population. Today, these beautiful gardens adorn the school's grounds with brightly colored flowers native to the Gulf Coast area.
The students, faculty and visitors of the school are not the only ones enjoying the new landscaping. The bees seem to enjoy them most of all.
