Mississippi Power recognized with ESGR’s Above and Beyond Award

Mississippi Power was recently recognized by the Mississippi Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for “going above and beyond” for its Guard and Reserve employees.

The company received ESGR’s Above and Beyond Award last month at a banquet in Jackson. Mississippi Power also received recognition in 2018.

“Supportive employers like the ones recognized today are vital to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units,” said Mississippi ESGR Chairman Aubrey Ray.

The Above and Beyond award was created by ESGR to recognize local employers who do more than just the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits such as differential or full-pay to offset lost wages, extended health benefits and other employee benefits.

According to ESGR, the award is given in limited numbers by state committees to employers with at least one supervisor recognized with a Patriot Award and signed an ESGR Statement of Support. Building Services Supervisor Tim Gobble was recently nominated for this award, and John Stewart received the Patriot Award in 2019.

Customer Distribution Manager Kyle Ladner accepted the award on the company’s behalf, with Speaker of the House Phillip Gunn and Adjutant General of Mississippi Major General Janson Boyles also in attendance.
