Mississippi Power employees donate more than $10,000 toward hunger relief

Mississippi Power’s Pine Belt Community Connection chapter recently presented a check to nonprofit hunger relief organization Extra Table

The employee volunteer chapter collected more than $10,000 in donations this April by hosting its annual charity golf tournament at the Timberton Golf Club in Hattiesburg. Employees and their families, customers and community partners participated in the fundraising effort.

This year’s tournament was the first since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Extra Table is a nonprofit organization, based in Hattiesburg, committed to ending hunger by supplying food pantries and soup kitchens across the state with healthy meals.

The proceeds from the golf tournament assist Extra Table in providing those in need with access to nutritional food.

“Our chapter is proud to present this check to our valued partner, Extra Table,” said Pine Belt Community Connection President Jared Miller. “We always cherish the opportunities where we can assist individuals and families within our communities, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”

Earlier this year, Mississippi Power volunteers also assisted Extra Table with its March of the Mayors events.
