Mississippi Power employees provide expertise at Career Coach Conference
Mississippi Power employees spanning various departments recently met with career coaches in the company's service territory to discuss workforce development and job opportunities for high school students during a conference held at William Carey University.
Representatives from the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District attended the conference and worked alongside Mississippi Power employees in administering rotating roundtable career conversation sessions.
“By receiving training from our subject matter experts, these career coaches can inform their students of opportunities within our company they may have never thought about before,” said Community Development Representative Ann Holland. “We are grateful to William Carey University for allowing us the space to host this event in a central location, and we are excited about the growth that will come from these sessions.”
During the roundtable sessions, career coaches learned from Mississippi Power leaders about numerous career opportunities within different departments in order to gain a better understanding of the careers the company offers. In turn, the career coaches will be able to better educate students about prospective jobs with Mississippi Power.

- Engineering - Area Manager Joe Cole
- Generation – I&C Specialist Chuck Delacruz
- Fleet – Fleet Services Supervisor Wade Ladner
- Environmental Affairs – Director of Environmental Affairs and Shared Services Michael Harvey, Environmental Affairs Manager Tony Smith
- Line Crew – Local Manager Mike Gibson
- Cybersecurity – Telecom Supervisor Richard Struss, Security Risk and Compliance Analyst Specialist Guy Palmer (Georgia Power), and IT Security Manager Steve Sanders (Georgia Power)
Career coaches have joined high schools across the state over the past two years as part of a recent statewide initiative from Accelerate Mississippi, the state’s workforce development organization.
