Mississippi Power offers tips to stay safe and bright for Halloween

Mississippi Power customers can keep their neighborhoods safe and bright this Halloween by following a few simple tips.

Customers can report a streetlight outage in their neighborhood ahead of Halloween weekend by visiting the Mississippi Power website here or by calling 1-800-ITS-DARK.

“Reporting a streetlight outage is an easy way to make sure your neighborhood is ready for families and their trick-or-treaters,” said Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith. “Safety is always a priority at Mississippi Power so we want to make sure that those participating in Halloween fun stay safe and bright.”

Mississippi Power recommends the following tips to families planning to trick-or-treat this year:

  • Trick-or-treat in areas with sidewalks or closed-off roadways.
  • Use reflective tape on the back and front of costumes.
  • Only visit areas that are well-lit.
  • Always travel in groups.
  • Carry a flashlight and cell phone.
  • Keep an eye on small children by putting down electronics while walking.
  • Use caution and drive slowly in areas with trick-or-treaters.
