Mississippi Power volunteers beautify children's museum

Mississippi Power Community Connection volunteers worked to improve the Mississippi Children's Museum in Meridian for its annual Fall Fix-up.

“The annual Fall Fix-up at the Mississippi Children’s Museum is always a great opportunity for us to extend a welcoming hand to a valued partner in our community,” said East Mississippi Community Connection President Jason Strawbridge. “We hope our work will enhance the museum for children of all ages to visit, learn and enjoy.”

Around 30 volunteers consisting of line crew, engineering and metering employees spent hours volunteering to help beautify the interior and exterior of the museum through painting, pressure washing, wiring, deep cleaning and other maintenance work.

Mississippi Children's Museum-Meridian’s facilities coordinator Angela Barnard said Mississippi Power’s volunteer work is always appreciated, adding that she appreciates the trust shared with our employees to perform exceptional work.

“It means a lot to know these people have technical experience, and we can assign them tasks without having to worry about it,” said Barnard. “We always know they are going to do a good job, which is huge.”

Mississippi Children's Museum’s vision is to inspire Mississippi’s children from all backgrounds to discover and achieve their potential.

Mississippi Power volunteers will return to the museum in early November to assist with the annual Christmas tree setup.
