Mississippi Power employees assist Jackson County special needs school
Mississippi Power's Jackson-George Community Connection chapter recently constructed and donated a custom sand and water table to the Jackson County Exceptional School.
The Jackson County Exceptional School serves students with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities from the Pascagoula-Gautier, Moss Point and Jackson County School Districts.
Mississippi Power volunteers dedicated their time and skills to construct the sand and water table, ensuring that it was durable, accessible and met the specific needs of the students. The table will help create a beneficial learning environment by increasing fine motor skills, encouraging social interaction and providing a calming sensory experience.
Jackson County Exceptional School Principal Christy Sharp highlighted the importance of the chapter’s contribution in fostering a space for students that is engaging and supportive.
"This sand and water table will be an invaluable resource for our students, allowing them to explore and learn in a way that is both fun and therapeutic," said Sharp.
Working with the Jackson County Exceptional School is one of the many ways the chapter supports initiatives that advance educational growth and community well-being.
