Mississippi Power Local Manager Jason Parker honored by Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce

Mississippi Power Local Manager Jason Parker recently received the Community Impact Award from the Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his tireless service in the city.

“With funds provided through a grant from the Mississippi Power Foundation combined with other community partners and volunteers, we have accomplished many great things in Poplarville,” said Parker, who is serving in his third year as a board member of the Poplarville chamber. “It has definitely been a team effort that I am proud to be a part of and I’m very honored to receive this award.”

Among the many improvements Poplarville has enjoyed are a new welcome sign, picnic tables on the town green and LED decorative lighting on downtown buildings.

Last year, the Mississippi Municipal League recognized Poplarville with the Community Spirit Award for a city with less than 10,000 people for its annual Boo Berry Festival in October.

“This is a great accomplishment for Jason,” said Bay St. Louis Area Manager T.J. Pruitt. “Our company is well-respected in that community because of his leadership.”

The company has been recognized with the Community Partner Impact Award from the Center for Energy Workforce Development for its innovative and ongoing efforts to build a diverse workforce. For outstanding storm response, the company was honored with by the Edison Electric Institute with an Emergency Response Award.
