Mississippi Power ready to respond ahead of spring severe weather on Wednesday

Gulfport, Miss. – Mississippi Power is prepared to respond to its customers’ needs as a line of severe weather moves across the country and is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to the company’s service territory on Wednesday.

The company has lined up more than 200 additional resources to assist Mississippi Power crews if needed including line workers, engineers and vegetation management personnel. Local crews are also coming to their work locations packed and ready to focus on restoration in the most impacted areas.

“This spring is proving to be an active severe weather season with multiple threats of storms across our service territory,” said Mississippi Power Transmission General Manager and Storm Director Stephen Schruff. “While the severe weather risk tomorrow is elevated across the state, our crews are ready to respond for our customers.”

The majority of Mississippi Power’s service territory is currently forecasted to be under moderate risk for severe storms with the threat of heavy rain, damaging winds and possible tornados. Customers are urged to stay weather-aware and up to date on possible impacts by following Mississippi Power’s social media channels and the Mississippi Power outage map.
