Mississippi Power volunteers help refurbish Mississippi Children's Museum Meridian

Mississippi Power volunteers in the East Mississippi Community Connection chapter recently visited the Mississippi Children's Museum-Meridian to assist with maintenance and beautify the facility for its third annual Fall Fix Up.

“This project allows us to lend a helping hand to one of our valued partners in the community, which will benefit all the children who come here to learn and grow,” said Mississippi Power Community Connection Chapter President Jason Strawbridge. “We enjoy assisting the Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian with several events throughout the year so they can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our youth.”

The goal of the project is to keep the museum in pristine condition for visitors throughout the year following a busy summer of fun activities.

More than 20 employees worked alongside other organizations and volunteers in completing indoor and outdoor tasks to make the facility as clean and organized as possible. These jobs included replacing worn equipment, pressure washing, sanitizing, painting, dusting and more.

Mississippi Children's Museum-Meridian’s facilities coordinator Angela Barnard thanked the company and its volunteers for returning another year to help with the effort.

“We are happy that Mississippi Power partnered with us once again to make our third annual Fall Fix Up a success. We look forward to having these competent professionals come and help us with painting, repairs and dusting the high places in the museum we can’t reach,” she said. “We hope these familiar faces enjoy coming to volunteer at the museum as much as we enjoy having them.”

Mississippi Children's Museum-Meridian’s vision is to inspire Mississippi’s children from all backgrounds to discover and achieve their potential. East Mississippi Community Connection volunteers are scheduled to return in November to assist the museum with its annual Christmas tree setup.
