Mississippi Power announces Fran Forehand as Vice President of Power Delivery and Division Operations

Gulfport, Miss. – Mississippi Power recently announced that Fran Forehand will be returning to Mississippi Power to serve as vice president of Power Delivery and Division Operations as Melvin Roland transitions to Georgia Power to become senior vice president of Transmission.

Forehand will oversee Mississippi Power's Coast and Northern divisions, Power Delivery and Supply Chain. She will be responsible for operating and maintaining the company's electric service to more than 192,000 customers with industry-leading reliability and safety performance.

Forehand previously worked at Mississippi Power from 2019 to 2021 as the vice president of Customer Service and Operations, helping the company navigate the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her leadership, the company successfully implemented AMI, launched its Grid Investment Strategy, and responded safely and resiliently to severe weather events like the devastating Easter tornadoes in the Pine Belt, Hurricane Zeta, Winter Storm Viola and more.

At Georgia Power, Forehand served as vice president of Power Delivery and, most recently, as senior vice president of Transmission. In that role, she has been responsible for leading the day-to-day Transmission operations, including planning, designing and construction of the grid of the future.

Earlier in her career, Forehand served in leadership positions at Georgia Power as vice president of the Northeast Region, vice president of the East Region and Metro North Region manager.

Forehand started her Southern Company career at Alabama Power in 1991 as a Distribution engineering co-op student and joined Georgia Power in 1996.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA in finance from Augusta State University. In April 2022, Forehand was inducted into the Distinguished Engineering Fellows at the University of Alabama.

Now in its 100th year of service, Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), produces safe, reliable and affordable energy for more than 192,000 customers in 23 southeast Mississippi counties.
