Mississippi Power offers safety tips to customers this Halloween

Gulfport, Miss. – Mississippi Power is offering some safety tricks for families planning to partake in Halloween festivities this week.

“Safety is always a priority at Mississippi Power, so we want to make sure those participating in trick-or-treating keeps a safety mindset while they are out in their communities,” said Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith. “Incorporating these easy safety tricks into your family plan ensures everyone stays safe and has fun.”

Mississippi Power recommends the following tips to anyone trick-or-treating in neighborhoods:

  • Trick-or-treat in areas with sidewalks or closed-off roadways.
  • Use reflective tape on the back and front of costumes.
  • Only visit areas that are well-lit.
  • Always travel in groups.
  • Carry a flashlight and cell phone.
  • Keep an eye on small children by putting down electronics while walking.
  • Use caution and drive slowly in areas with trick-or-treaters.
