Mississippi Power receives Community Impact Award from United Way of East Mississippi

Mississippi Power recently received the 2024 Community Impact Award from United Way of East Mississippi for helping the nonprofit make a positive difference through employee volunteerism and perpetual giving.

Mississippi Power Division Manager Chris Phillips accepted the award during the nonprofit’s annual meeting in Meridian. The event allowed business representatives, donors and other community leaders to celebrate the organization’s successes last year.

“In our company’s 100th year of service, it’s an honor to be recognized by United Way for the impact we are making in our community,” said Phillips. “With our ongoing volunteer efforts, employees will continue to make a lasting difference for years to come through this partnership.”

During the ceremony, United Way of East Mississippi Board Member Debbie Young thanked the company for its consistency in supporting the community. She acknowledged the tremendous impact made last summer when the Mississippi Power Foundation donated $350,000 to United Way to provide customers with bill assistance through Project SHARE.

Young also thanked employee volunteers for participating in so many outreach opportunities, including hand-delivering school supplies, uniforms and other items to students across four counties through the nonprofit’s annual Stuff-the-Bus campaign.

“The Community Impact Award is given to an organization that goes above and beyond to make a meaningful difference, and there is no doubt that Mississippi Power has done just that,” Young told attendees. “As a pacesetter company and one of our top five givers, Mississippi Power continues to set a standard for corporate generosity. Thank you so much for everything you do.”
