Mississippi Power and community officials cut ribbon on Lucedale Soccer Complex

Lucedale, Miss. - Representatives from Mississippi Power joined leaders from the city of Lucedale and the George County board of supervisors last week for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Lucedale Soccer Complex.

The company installed the lighting for the 14 soccer fields and will maintain them as part of a seven-year lease agreement.

“It’s been a privilege to have worked hand-in-hand with the city and the county to see this project brought to life,” Lucedale Local Manager Dirk Turner said at the ceremony. “This ribbon-cutting is the culmination of a lot of hard work and Mississippi Power is excited to be a part of it and to maintain this complex for years to come.

“I have no doubt this will be a great asset to this community and for children and athletes, not just in George County, but from all across southeast Mississippi. I look forward to seeing Lucedale and George County continue to grow and thrive, and Mississippi Power will be with you every step of the way.”

The soccer complex represents the largest joint construction project for the city and county, so the company’s partnership makes this a true win-win-win.

As people gathered for the ribbon-cutting, a robotic machine was lining the fields and others were putting goals in place in preparation for the complex’s first big soccer tournament over the weekend.
