Mississippi Power volunteers support Saluting Branches for ninth year

Gulfport, Miss. - Fifty Mississippi Power employees returned to Biloxi National Cemetery on Wednesday for their ninth year participating in Saluting Branches.

The annual event provides an opportunity for employees to give back while honoring the men and women who served our country. Employees cleaned tombstones, trimmed tree branches and performed other cleaning and landscaping jobs in the cemetery.

“Saluting Branches is a meaningful way to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans,” said Senior Engineer Analyst and Army Veteran Tim Brown. “By helping maintain these sacred grounds, we show our respect for those who served and ensure their legacy is preserved for future generations.”

For Executive Assistant Sarah Lee, volunteering at Saluting Branches carried a personal connection to her family and her career in the military.

"This is my first year coming out to volunteer at this event. My husband is buried out here, and I'm a veteran myself, so I always want to support everything I can when it relates to veterans," Lee said.
